Margaret L. ‘Peggy’ Campbell
OLEAN — Margaret L. “Peggy” Campbell, formerly of Haskell Parkway, passed away peacefully Sunday (Jan. 12, 2025) at the Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Aug. 17, 1934, in Olean, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Lena Turner Spees. On Dec. 26, 1953, in Shinglehouse, Pa., she married James “Jim” Campbell, who predeceased her Dec. 24, 2012.
Peggy graduated from Shinglehouse High School. She was a longtime employee of St. Francis Hospital and Olean General Hospital, where she later volunteered.
Peggy loved spending time with her family and friends, whether it be taking trips to the beach, bowling, or going out to dinner with neighbors. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Olean. She also enjoyed gardening, square dancing, attending music in the park, and volunteering with Home Care & Hospice.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (James) Eastman of Etters, Pa.; two sons, David (Diane) Campbell of Portville and Mark (Katrina Latten) Campbell of Olean; 10 grandchildren, Melissa (Denny) Miller, Brian (Amanda) Eastman, Kristen (Christopher) Stein, Jay (Greta Atchinson) Campbell, Kelly Campbell, Shawn Campbell, Luke (Kate) Campbell, Shane Campbell, Tara Campbell and Amy Campbell; ten great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Pam Spees; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Genette Spees and Letha (Robert) Moyer; a brother, Thomas Spees; and a brother-in-law, Donald (Barbara) Campbell.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 131 N. Ninth St., Olean, with Pastor Dawn Quesenberry officiating and Rev. Jerry Piper co-officiant. A light luncheon will be served at the church afterward. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
