Mary Jane Crooks, 93, passed away on May 27, 2024 at Wellsville Manor, in Wellsville.

Mary Jane was born in Bolivar, on November 12, 1930, to Charles LaVern and Sally (Gilliland) Warner. On March 18, 1949, she married L. Ancil Crooks, who predeceased her in September of 2005.

Mary Jane graduated from Bolivar High School and later attended Bryant and Stratton Business School in Buffalo. She and Ancil lived in many places in New York and Pennsylvania. In 1973, they settled and lived in Okemos, MI, before relocating to Ocala, FL., in 1987. After Ancil’s death, Mary Jane moved to Gainesville, FL., to be near her daughter, Gale. In 2018, she returned north to Portville, to be near her son, John.

Mary Jane is survived by her five children, John (Laurie) Crooks of Eldred, PA., Cathi (Mike) Pettit of Unionville, MI., Gale (John Stanz) Crooks of New Smyrna Beach, FL., Mike (Janet) Crooks of Green Mountain, NC., Mark Crooks of Bolivar; and her four grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ancil; her parents, LaVern and Sally; and a daughter Lynette Crooks.

The family is planning to celebrate Mary Jane’s life, privately at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St, Olean.
