Loving brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather
Portville – Melvin E. Seawright passed away at Olean General Hospital on Sunday (July 30, 2023).
Born July 13, 1944 in Wellsville, he was the son of Sidney and Norma Clemons Seawright, Sr.. Melvin was a graduate of Portville High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968. Melvin worked for Cooper Industries for 20 years before retiring. After retirement, Melvin stayed busy working part time at JCC in Olean or working on cars. In his early years, he loved to restore cars and display them at car shows.
Melvin leaves behind two daughters, Elizabeth Seawright of Rochester and Nicole (Micheal) Younger of Tulsa, OK; eight grandchildren, Miquella Seawright, Alanea Drayton, Malquam Drayton, Merisa Drayton, Anisha Drayton, James Boardley, Michael Younger Jr., and Nicholas Younger; six great grandchildren, Derek Jr., Mariannah, Masih, Jaiden, Jianna and Emma Grace; three brothers, Sidney Seawright, Jr., Raymond (Jeanette) Seawright of Portville, and Charles Seawright; two sisters, Joyce Hatchett of NC and Carolyn (Cecil) Brozos of PA; also many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and sisters, Mary Ann Herring and Barbara Gayton.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville, with full military honors accorded by the Allegany American Legion.
