Michael Leonard Wright

Bolivar- Michael L. Wright of Bolivar passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 27, 2026. 

Born July 19, 1984, at St. Francis Hospital in Olean, he was born to Gwenlynn Weakfall and lovingly adopted by Cynthia Wright, both of whom survive.

Attending Portville Central School, he later obtained his GED.  He worked as a laborer for Helds Janitorial and UPS. Michael loved the outdoors, but music was his everything.  He also enjoyed weightlifting, grilling, spending time with family and friends, and helping others.

Michael is survived by his mother, Cynthia; his birth mother, Gwenlynn; his significant other of over 15 years, Samantha Simon; his children, Javon Wright, Trenton Wright, Kwinton Wright, and Meleeyah Wright, all of Arizona; Omarius Wright and Titan Wright of Bolivar; his siblings, Carmen (Demetrius) Mack, Kwane Jae Weakfall, from Olean, and Keisha Weakfall of Rochester, Byron Peterson, Brent Peterson, Brian Peterson, and Briett Boykin; and lots of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his dad, Lawrence Peterson; his grandmother, Elaine Wright; and an uncle, Malcolm Drayton.

Family will receive friends at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 S. Main Street, Portville, on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 4-7 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11 am, with burial to follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Portville.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
