Nancy Carol Haines Freeland

Virginia- Nancy Carol Haines Freeland, formerly of Portville, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, in Virginia at a care facility near her daughter.

She was born on January 15, 1938, the daughter of the late Wayne A. and Alice Long Haines.

Nancy graduated proudly from Portville Central School with the class of 1956. She then enlisted in the U. S. Air Force and met and married Raymond Jay Freeland. Early on Nancy and Ray owned and operated a NY State pizza franchise. In later years, they designed and Ray built Point Au Roche Lodge, an eight-bedroom Bed & Breakfast that served the community, corporations, and visitors to the Lake Champlain region.

She is survived by her daughters, Lora and Angela; a son, Brad; four precious grandchildren; a sister, Tonya; and a brother, Bill.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Ray; and her parents, Wayne and Alice.

At Nancy’s request, no services are planned, she will be dearly missed.
