Norman E. Stanton loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother
Olean- Norman Edward Stanton, Jr. aka, ‘Stormin Norman’, 70, longtime resident of Fulton St. in Olean, passed away unexpectedly on November 10, 2023 at Olean General Hospital.
Norm was born in Buffalo on April 13, 1953 to Norman and Santina C. Mola Stanton. He moved to Olean at the age of 19, where he began a long adventurous life of meeting countless acquaintances, raising his children and meeting the love of his life, the former Sheri Russell. Together since 1986, Norm and Sheri shared many beautiful years together, without a dull moment. Norm had a wonderful sense of humor and never left home without taking a few jokes with him.
On January 6, 2001, Norm invited Sheri to a ‘retirement party’, which turned out to be a surprise wedding for the two of them that he planned on his own.
Norm was a maintenance worker for Wal-Mart. He was a hard-working man, since the age of 14. In his free time, he loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was always up for anything outdoors, but especially hunting and fishing. He loved telling stories about his hunting adventures, including the ones that got away and the out of this world animals.
Norm is survived by his wife, Sheri; his children, Bryan, Eric, Jenny, Norma-Jean, Norman, David, Sarah and Buddy; many grandchildren, and a great grandchild; siblings, John, Tina, Richard, Michael, Kathleen and Lucille; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and many extended family and friends.
There will be a small upcoming and gathering for close family and friends in the near future, at a time and place to be announced. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State, Olean. Online condolences can be expressed at www.guentherfh.com
