Patrick C. Shearer

Hinsdale- Patrick C. Shearer, of 3880 Pennsylvania Road, Hinsdale, passed away Saturday (August 14, 2021) at the Buffalo VA Medical Center, after a long illness.

Born January 15, 1971 in Olean, he was the son of Terrance W. and Patricia A. Thierman Shearer.  Over ten years ago, he met his longtime companion, Jeannie Rohl, who survives.

Pat was a graduate of Hinsdale Central School and attended BOCES in Olean.  He enlisted in the United States Army from 1989-1993 and served in Desert Storm.  During his military service, he received numerous medals, awards, and commendations.

He first worked as a security guard for several companies and later worked for Southern Tier Forest Products in Salamanca, for the past twenty years.

Pat enjoyed antique cars, hunting, fishing, camping, and attending state and county fairs.  He had a vast collection of Snoopy, Elvis, and military memorabilia. He was a past member of the Hinsdale American Legion Post 250 and enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents and Jeannie; he is survived by four children; Shaw Shearer of Portville, Logan Shearer of Olean, Taylor Shearer of East Aurora, and Jaret Shearer of Olean; two grandkids, Lincoln and Luna Shearer; four siblings, Kristen (Nathan) Boudreau of Locust Grove, VA., Terry Lee Peters of Pueblo CO., Debbie Anderson of Olean, and Steven Shearer of Kings Mountain, N.C., many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his Godparents, Edward Thierman and Dee Bush.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Mary and Fred Rothrock, and Charles Thierman; and his paternal grandparents Mabelle and William Shearer.

Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State Street, Olean on Thursday (August 19, 2021) from 11am-1pm.  Funeral services will follow at 1pm.  Jeff Wagner, a close friend of Pat’s will do the service.  Burial will be in the Veterans Field of Honor, Mt. View Cemetery, with full military honors accorded by the Allegany American Legion.
