Paul Roy DeYoe, a heart of gold, loved his family and was proud of being in the army
Portville—Paul R. DeYoe, of Portville, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025, after a short illness at his home in Bradenton, Florida, with his wife Dora by his side.
Born in Olean, on July 12, 1937, the son of the late Roy and Leona DeYoe. On July 23, 1960, he married his loving wife Dora, who survives.
Paul graduated from Portville Central School in 1956 and received a certificate in automotive technology from a trade school in New York City in 1958. He went to work for Don Adams Auto Parts in 1958, then joined the Army in 1960 and was stationed in Germany for two years, followed by four years in the reserves. Paul went back to work at Don Adams in 1962, buying the business in 1978. He owned and operated the business until his retirement in 1998. In his off time, Paul loved being with his family, whether it was fishing or just going for a walk on the beach and collecting sea shells. He was a man of faith and liked reading his bible.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dora; his 3 sons, Tim (Kathy) DeYoe, Dave (Lynette) DeYoe, and Dan (Angela) DeYoe; 7 grandchildren, Krystal (Tony) Travis, Kasym (Beka) DeYoe, Vanya DeYoe, Lynn Langworthy, Michael (Clarissa) Harvey, Christopher Harvey and Sarha (Mike) Sweet; 10 great-grandchildren, Antoinette, Rose Mary, Harland and Zachary Travis, Luka and Vanya DeYoe, Zyla, Zayden. Zaria and Zandyn Sweet; and a sister, Lois Coss.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Leona; a grandson, Joseph DeYoe; a brother, Richard DeYoe; and 2 sisters, Viola Eddie and Bernice DeYoe.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 pm and 5 to 7 pm Saturday (January 25, 2025) at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 South Main Street, Portville. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Sunday (January 26, 2025) at the Harvest Field Church, 406 West State St, Olean, with Pastor Doug Travis officiating.
