Rae L. Mohr
Olean- Rae L. Mohr of 2003 Haskell Rd, Olean, passed away peacefully on Wednesday (April 3, 2024).
Rae was born on July 28, 1938, in Bradford, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ivan Turner and Marian Ruby (Hand) and step father Lyle O’Hara. On December 31, 1955, in St. Bonaventure Church she married her beloved Joseph A. Mohr, who predeceased her on October 1, 2022.
Rae went to school in Bradford, PA., and worked at ACME in her early days, but was best known as driving bus for Portville Central School. She was adored and loved by all the students on her bus for many years.
She was a longtime horse lover and she ran a boarding stable and gave lessons at her farms, at Mohr’s Breezy Acres, located both on the Haskell Rd. and Sheehan Rd. in Olean. Rae was very well known for her many years as a 4-H leader with the Lucky Aces 4-H Club. She and her husband did many local parades and weddings with their beloved horses and carriages. She volunteered for many years taking her horses to the Special Olympics. She would speak fondly for many years, of the smiles she brought to the children’s faces when they could pet or ride one of her horses. Rae absolutely loved leading the way or carrying Santa in the Santa Claus Lane Parade for many years. This tradition was carried on by her adored grandsons, Bryce and Matt. Her legacy continues with Hillview Stables. Holidays were always her favorite, because she loved being surrounded by her family.
She was so very well-known at the Cattaraugus County Fair, where her children and her many “Adopted horse kids” would go and show her horses. Many went on to the New York State Fair in Syracuse every year and she would be there supporting them and celebrating ribbon wins.
Rae was a huge Buffalo Bills fan. With her daughter, Vicki, being co-owner of The Scoop in Portville, she was there almost every night with her husband, Joseph. They both loved the social aspect of talking to everyone that was in line, sometimes for hours. She was always known to be so beautiful, and everyone commented on her beautiful style and jewelry. She was the best mother and grandmother and will be in her family’s hearts forever. The impact she had on her family, friends and community will live on forever.
You could always find our mom with our dad at all the local Legions, VFW’s and Clubs. Every Wednesday and Sunday they would go and enjoy the many friendships they made throughout the years. Traveling was her passion, she loved to go anywhere and everywhere!
She is survived by her three children, whom she loved so much, Randy (Paulette) Mohr, Tom (Gert) Mohr, and Vicki (William) Blessing, all of Olean; eight grandchildren that were so special to her and so adored; Christian Mohr, Amber Mohr, Kristin Aimchuck, Michelle Packiorkowski, Michael Mohr, Matthew Mohr, Bryce Blessing and Kylie Blessing; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Pietrowski of Lancaster and Janice Reynolds of Florida; one sister-in-law, Mary Mohr; and a brother-in-law Donald Anderson.
She was predeceased by her parents, and her beloved husband, Joseph; a beloved son, Raymond Mohr in 1972; a sister, Beverly Anderson; a daughter-in-law, Diane Mohr; sister-in-law, Beatrice Patrizi; and two brother-in-law’s, Frank Pietrowski and Larry Reynolds.
