Olean- Reba J. Fonzi, of 602 King Street, Olean, passed away Saturday (August 14, 2021) at the Absolut of Allegany, after a long illness.
Born July 2, 1933 in Memphis, TN., she was the daughter of Addi Lucille Ballard and William Oscar Martin. She married Dominic A. Fonzi on November 5, 1955 in Pittsburgh, PA., he predeceased her in December 1982.
In 1955, Reba was a graduate of Mercy’s School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA., and became a registered nurse. She worked for twenty-five years for the former St. Francis Hospital in Olean and then for twenty-five years for the Cattaraugus County Department of Health.
Reba was a longtime parishioner of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. She enjoyed going to the casino, traveling, and making crafts. Reba was a dog breeder for several years. Most of all, she loved caring and taking care of people.
She is survived by; one son Daniel (Martha) Fonzi of Eatonton, GA; one daughter, Patricia (Scott) Fonzi of York, PA; five grandchildren, Mark Butzin, Dominic Markham, Anthony Fonzi, Emily Fonzi, and Robert Menter; and a special friend and caregiver Sandy Capitani.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one daughter, Lynn Marie Fonzi in August 2012.
There will be no services for Reba. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany and at the convenience of the family.
