Olean- Robert F. Harrington, a longtime resident of 904 Homer Street, (a home that he proudly built) passed away Wednesday (October 5, 2022) at the Olean General Hospital.
Born September 17, 1944, in Olean, he was the son of the late Eugene and Cecelia Kwiatkowski Harrington. Bob was a 1962 graduate of Olean High School. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the United States Navy, from 1962-1966. He went on to work as a mechanic for the Olean City Garage for 44 years.
Bob was a former member of St. John’s Church. He was a huge Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan and was especially proud of his autographed football from Lou Holtz. He enjoyed listening to the Oldies and loved hanging out with family and friends while enjoying a good Irish Coffee from Angee’s.
He is survived by; two daughters, Amy (Brent) Grandusky of Portville and Jeanne Harrington of Daytona Beach, FL.; three grandchildren, Gabrielle (Ian Palmer) Harrington, Chloe and Delaney Grandusky; five siblings, Margaret (Brig. Gen. Thomas Bowen) Bowen, Patricia (Donald) Manning, Edward (Linda) Harrington, Catherine (James) Kubic and Beverly Blessing; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by; one brother, Eugene “Cookie” Harrington.
Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State Street on Sunday (October 9, 2022) from 4-7pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday (October 11, 2022) beginning with a 9:30am prayer service followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. John’s Church. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
