Robert E. Stephens

Portville- Robert E. Stephens, of 122 Portville Ceres Road, Portville, passed away Tuesday (October 18, 20220 at the Cuba Memorial Hospital Palliative Care.

Robert was born December 27, 1927 in Belfast he was the son of Clifford and Clara Tracy Stephens.  He married Elfrieda “Jo” Stifter, who predeceased him on March 1, 2011.  He enlisted in the United States Army from 1947-1957 and then worked for Dresser Rand in Olean as a machinist, until his retirement.

In his younger years, Robert enjoyed studying Agriculture and was a photographer with the Army. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the New York Yankees.

He is survived by; one son, Robert (Christine) Stephens of Portville; one granddaughter, Lori Stephens of Cuba; two great-grandsons, Shayne (Stephanie) Stephens and Kaden Bell; and two dear cousins, William Swain and Barbara Bliven, whom he considered to be his siblings.

He was predeceased by several siblings.

Private burial services will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
