Duke Center, PA- Ronald Patrick Shoup, of 21 Timber Lane, Duke Center, PA., passed away Monday (January 10, 2022) at the Buffalo General Hospital.
Born February 7, 1958, in Hornell, he was the son of Robert Harry and Irene Ann Fairbanks Shoup. On July 10, 1981, he married the former, Lori Jackovitz, who survives.
Ron was a graduate of Royalton-Hartland High School in Middleport. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Edinboro University and continued his studies at St. Bonaventure University, where he received his master’s degree in education. Ron was a health teacher and physical education teacher for the Olean City School District for the past 42 years, a job which he loved. Not only was he a teacher, but he was also very involved with several extra circular activities with the school district, including the DARE program, coaching, and fundraising. Over the years, he helped raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
In his free time, Ron was an avid outdoorsman and also enjoyed gardening. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his mom, Irene Ann Shoup of Duke Center, PA; two children, Danielle Shoup of Ligonier, PA, and Bryan Shoup of Phoenix, AZ; one grandson, Julien Goyal; his siblings, Rodney (Priscilla) Shoup, Darlene Shoup, and Robert Shoup, II. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and his in-laws.
He was preceded in death by; his dad, Robert Harry Shoup, Sr.
Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State Street on Friday (January 14, 2022) from 2-6pm. Funeral services will be private.
