Rosemarie Pierce

Greensboro, NC- Rosemarie Pierce (Rose), 91, of Greensboro, NC formerly a longtime resident of Olean, died Monday, June 19, 2023, in Guilford Health Care Center, Greensboro, NC.

She was born December 20, 1931, in Olean, a daughter of the late Frank and Marie (Fie) Klotz. She was a proud alumna of Olean High School. Prior to retirement, she had a variety of jobs, most including interaction with the great citizens of Olean. These varied jobs included being a crossing guard for the Olean Public Schools, a hostess and coat check associate at the Castle Restaurant and Coffee Shop, and her longest-tenured job, and one that brought her the most joy was that of being a greeter at Walmart for many years.

Rose (along with her sister-in-law, Martha) very much enjoyed traveling and was able to spend time in Hawaii, Italy, England, and France along with several cruises to such exotic places as Alaska and the Panama Canal. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels church and for several years, she was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Of course, her biggest passion was being a lifetime fan of the Buffalo Bills.

She is survived by three sons, Michael E. Pierce (Paula), Robert W. Pierce (Theresa), and James D. Pierce; three grandchildren, Christopher Pierce (Julia Rikard), John Pierce (Lydia), and David Pierce (Cheyenne); three great-grandchildren, Natalie, Paisley, and Parker; her sister, Mary Kathryn Calhoun; her sister-in-law, Martha Klotz and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband and father of her children Donald Laverne Pierce, her stepfather, Hazen Ritter, and her brother, Robert F. Klotz.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday, July 5th, 2023 at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E State St, Olean. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Thursday, July 6th, 2023 at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels Church, Olean. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
