Sharon L. (Flint) Gibbons, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt
Olean- Sharon L. Gibbons, of Olean, passed away Monday, January 6, 2025, at The Pines of Olean, surrounded by her loving family.
Sharon was born in Jasper on March 23, 1947, she was the 10th child of 13, of Earl and Marie Flint. On September 18, 1965, she married John W. Gibbons, who predeceased her on April 26, 2010.
Sharon was a devoted grandmother. She attended her grandchildren’s sporting events, always cheering them on. She was never too busy to join in a backyard game, loving the smiles, laughter, and good times spent with them.
Sharon is survived by her sons, Gregory (Kathleen) Gibbons and Shawn (Jen Tyra) Gibbons; her grandchildren, Nicholas Aaron, Jacob Nathaniel, Samantha Marie, Jolyn Kristine, Alexis Rosemarie, Emily Christine, and Natalie Louise; siblings, Janette (Charles) Gavitt of Canisteo, Duane (Sue) Flint of Jasper, Marlene (Dennis) Friends of Woodhall, and Elijah Flint of Hornell; sisters-in-law, RoseMarie Flint of Jasper, Sandra Flint and Mary Flint, both of Hornell; brother-in-law, Thomas Cassavino of Lyons; and numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband John; her parents, Earl and Marie; her precious first born son, Johnny Gibbons on July 20, 2008; her sisters, Bessie Peters of Canesaraga, and Madeline Cassavino of Lyons; brothers, Carl, Dale, and Ronald Flint all of Jasper, Arnold, and Earl Flint both of Hornell.
Family will receive friends Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 3 pm – 7 p.m., at Guenther Funeral Home, Inc. 1303 East State Street, Olean. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10 am (January 10, 2025). at St. John’s Church 931 N. Union, Olean. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
