March 3, 1964 – January 13, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Susan M. LaRuche, 60, on January 13, 2025. Born on March 3, 1964, in Olean, Susan was the best daughter, sister, and aunt; a dedicated professional and cherished friend to many.

A proud graduate of Olean High School, Class of 1982, and Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY. Her remarkable career in radiology took her to Boston, MA, where she spent many years making an impact in her field. Most recently, Susan served as the Imaging Manager at Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, NY, where her expertise, leadership, and compassion were deeply valued by colleagues and patients alike.

Susan was the beloved daughter of Robert A. and Mary Lou Oakes LaRuche. She is survived by her mother, Mary Lou, and her siblings, Patricia (Thomas) Hull of North Hampton, New Hampshire, and Robert C. LaRuche of Buffalo, NY. She was a loving aunt to her nieces, Kate (Ian) Rafter of Lebanon NH, and Rebecca (Jeffery) Larrabee of North Tonawanda NY, and a very proud great-aunt to Gabriella Larrabee. Susan is also survived by her uncle, Charles (MaryEllen) Stark of Angelica, NY, and her best friend since 7th grade, Nanette George Higgins of Olean. Additionally, she leaves behind many dear cousins, friends, and colleagues who will remember her kindness, humor, and unwavering support.

Susan was predeceased by her father, Robert A. LaRuche, and her grandparents, Earl and Mary Wilkins LaRuche, and Carl and Cora Call Oakes. She was also preceded in death by many cherished aunts and uncles who held a special place in her heart.

Funeral services will be private, and burial will take place at St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Olean.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Susan’s honor to the Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Research Foundation.

Susan’s dedication to her work, her family, and her community has left a lasting legacy that will be remembered for years to come. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
