Olean- Thomas W. Blessing, of 525 3rd Ave., Olean, passed away Thursday (November 10, 2022) at his home with his family by his side.
Born August 5, 1932, in Allegany, he was the son of Elton and Evelyn Todd Blessing. On August 30, 1980, he married Donna Rogers Worth Blessing, who survives.
Tom was a graduate of Allegany High School and served in the United States Army from 1950-1952. He worked for Edstroms Construction and for L.C. Whitford in Wellsville.
Tom was a member of the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892. He enjoyed running, canoeing, NASCAR, and playing solitaire. He was an avid Buffalo Bills and Notre Dame football fan. He especially loved watching his grandchildren play sports and the holidays with his family. Tom also enjoyed gardening and canning everything that came from his garden.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by; his children, Nancy Blessing-Havens of North Carolina, Marilyn Moran of Allegany, Billy (Vicki) Blessing of Portville, Brian (Emma) Blessing of New Mexico, Greg Blessing, Kimberly (John) Ricci of Allegany, Lori Cole of Olean, Billy (Becky) Worth of Allegany, Joe (Kristina) Worth of Hamburg, and Tommy (Lisa) Worth of Olean; 26-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by; his parents; three sisters, Kay McCarthy, Mary Jo Mason and Nancy Jane Blessing; and one brother, Mark Blessing.
Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State Street, Olean on Monday from 4-7pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (November 22, 2022) at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Bonaventure Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Allegany American Legion.
