Olean- It is with deep sadness, the family of Thomas Lowry announce him entering into eternal rest on Sunday, May 16, 2021 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by family following his courageous battle with cancer.

Thomas Lowry was the happiest and most positive man. He was born May 27, 1947 in Toronto, Canada to Peter and Lila (Ormerod) Lowry. In 1985, he married Patricia (Kaduc) Lowry and enjoyed many blessed years together.

Tom was a proud member of the Peel Regional Police Department for over 20 years. Once moving to the States, he worked for the Olean Times Herald for 13 years, Seneca Gaming Authority for 12 years and the Olean General Healthcare System for the past 4 years. He could occasionally be found thoroughly enjoying Tuesday night Olean Dart League with friends.

He is survived by; his wife Patricia; his children, Jennifer (James) Downey, Sara (Timothy) Kocsar, Peter (Rachel) Lowry and Rachel (Isaac) Nowak. His grandchildren; Alyssa and Cassandra Kocsar, Payne and Lila Downey, and Leah Lucille Lowry. His siblings; Grace Snelgrove and John (Deborah) Lowry; one brother-law, Bob Brown; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

He was predeceased by; one sister, Patricia Brown; one brother, David John Lowry; and one brother-in-law, Bill Snelgrove.

The family would like to express thanks to Olean Hospice and Wilmot Cancer Center for the wonderful care and support they showed throughout this journey.

Family will receive friends on Friday (May 21, 2021) from 9am-10am at St. John’s Church, 931 N. Union St., Olean. A memorial mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am. Rev. David Tourville, pastor will be the celebrant. 

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wilmot Cancer Center, 601 Elmwood Ave. Rochester, NY 14642 or St. John’s RC Church, 931 N. Union Street, Olean would be greatly acknowledged by the family.
