Chicester, NH- On Wednesday January 13, 2021 Vernon (Vern) Rounds, peacefully passed away in his sleep at his son and daughter-in-law's home in Chichester, New Hampshire, after a period of declining health.
Vern was born in Olean on, September 25, 1925. He was the son of the late, Orton C. and Mima Hall Rounds.
He graduated from Olean High School and served in the United States Navy in the Pacific from 1943 to 1946. He married, Ann Marie Krieg on February 3, 1951, who predeceased him.
Vern retired from Dresser-Rand in Olean after 32 years as an engine assembler and machine repairman. During his retirement he raised beef cattle and was assisted by his beloved brother Ort for many years. He was an avid deer and coon hunter, who raised many fine Treeing Walker Coonhounds.
He is survived by his son David and daughter-in-law Lisa, granddaughters Emma Fritch, Ann Pearce and Margie Arias. He was recently blessed with a great granddaughter, Evelyn Mary Pearce. Vernon is also survived by a special nephew John Christopher Krieg and niece Wendy Dougherty and grand nieces Lindsey Scott, Kerrigan Knoll and grand nephew Patrick Dougherty. He is also blessed with many nephews, nieces and their descendants, too numerous to name.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brothers; Orton N., and Donald and his sisters; Clara Rounds, Margorie Elvira Songster and Dorothy Jane Mullen.
A celebration of Vernon's life will be celebrated at a later date. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery, Allegany.
Memorials if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
