Vincenzia "Gege" K. Chizewick

Olean- Vincenzia K. “Gege” Chizewick, of Olean, passed away Sunday (March 7, 2021) at the Olean General Hospital.

Born December 2, 1928 in Olean, she was the daughter of Michael and Rose Anastasia Russo.  On October 29, 1949 in St. John’s Church, Olean, she married Francis “Frank” Chizewick, who predeceased her on October 24, 2004.

“Gege” waitressed at many local establishments, including the Century Manor.  She was a lifelong parishioner of St. John’s Church and sang in the church choir.  She loved gardening and most of all, spending time with her two grandsons.

Surviving is; one daughter, Cheryl (Billy Dorough) Witter of Burleson, TX; one son, Michael (Gail) Chizewick of Olean; two grandsons, Ryan (Joelle Young) Chizewick and Nicholas (Kayla Holcomb) Chizewick, both of Olean; one great-grandson, Grayson Chizewick; one brother-in-law, Ed Chizewick; her special friends, Rita, Carol, Mike, Cindy, and Toni; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Dominic Russo, Mike Russo, Carmie LeRoy, and Julie Fortunato.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday (March 18, 2021) at 10am at St. John’s Catholic Church, Olean. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.

Memorials, if desired, can be made to St. John’s Church, 931 N. Union Street, Olean.
