Portville- William J. Meyer, of 925 Portville-Olean Road, passed away Tuesday (February 15, 2022), after a brief illness.
Born August 20, 1948, in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late, August and Mary Falbo Meyer. On October 7, 1967, in Brooklyn, he married the former Eileen Rubinetz, who survives.
Bill was a proud United States Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a licensed minister through the Assembly of God Ministries and the Executive Director of Sarah’s Heart Children’s Home in Portville.
He was an active member of the Fresh Fire Worship Center in Olean. Not only did Bill love spending time with his family, but he also loved spending time with his church family as well.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by; two children, Lisa (Lawrence) Piazza of Foxboro, MA., and David (Cheri) Meyer of Springfield, MO., five grandchildren, LJ Piazza, Anthony Piazza, Nick Meyer, Luke Meyer, and Sam Meyer; and one brother, August Meyer.
Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by; one brother, Robert Meyer.
Friends will be received at the Fresh Fire Worship Center, 3036 NY-417 Olean on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday (February 26, 2022) at 10am at the church. Joel Whitcher, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery, Veterans Field of Honor, with full military honors accorded by the Allegany American Legion.
